Background

Mission

The Friends of the Costa Mesa Libraries is a nonprofit (501 c3) volunteer support group that promotes awareness and use of the Costa Mesa libraries, supports legislation favorable to libraries and aids in the provision of adequate resources and library facilities for the benefit of our community.

Activities

Since the Friends were founded in 1960, we have raised funds to supplement materials available to our libraries.  We have provided funding for children’s and young adult’s programs in both the Mesa Verde and Costa Mesa libraries.  Speakers and programs of interest to our community have been offered.  Equipment, furnishings, supplies, books and at one time even staff salaries have been paid for.  Now, in addition to our more traditional goals we are involved with the Costa Mesa Library Foundation in a campaign for a new central library branch.
